planetarium

Look! I went to the aquarium right before my last list ended! Not a lot of great pictures. The museum before we went in was really cool- half of it was boring things about science that totally went over my head but the other half was all interactive exhibits that taught you things. Though I don’t remember much of it so I guess it didn’t teach me very much.IMG_1680

I haven’t watched a lot of movies in 2015, it seems. I’ve been rewatching almost all of my favorite tv shows though.

hair

IMG_1513

Got my hair cut short right after my friend’s wedding.

IMG_0230

Tried to curl my hair using a headband while I was sleeping. It did curl, but it was really frizzy.

IMG_1539

I used sea salt spray on my hair when it was wet in the morning. It was still a little damp here, so it looked great. After it fully dried, it poofed out like crazy and I had to put it up.

This was actually just after I woke up from sleeping on wet hair. I’m not sure what’s going on in the past few years, but my hair is all of a sudden really curly (but always really frizzy) and I don’t know how I feel about it.

I also had bangs for awhile but never got a good picture of it. Five?

All in all, I only read 152 books. It felt like a lot more. I’m actually surprised that it was less than 200, but I guess considering I was super busy with work for some of the time, it makes sense. I was always the type of person that had to finish a book even if it wasn’t very good, but I started to get over that because it really isn’t worth my time. I probably gave up on 20ish books before I got too far into them. All of the bolded books are ones that I very much enjoyed.

Consumerism

Getting rid of 101 things that I own is one of the most exciting things that I have ever had on my list! I have a 2 bedroom apartment and now that Mallory is living with me, I am trying extra hard to get things out of that room for her (though failing miserably.) Here I will list all of the things that I have gotten rid of so far..

I started writing this post over a year ago…

1. Lamp that I always hated (thrown out)
2. Another lamp that matched the lamp that I always hated (thrown out)
3. A bag of papers and things that I didn’t really need (thrown out)
4. An entire box of books that I had already read/never wanted to read again (some sold to a used bookstore, some left in break room at work)
5. A whole pile of Entertainment Weekly Magazines (recycled)
6. A whole pile of Real Simple magazines (donated to school)
7. A whole pile of Family Fun magazines (donated to school)
8. A whole box of art supplies that were bad (thrown out)
9. A whole bagful of random crap that I don’t know why I ever kept! (thrown out)
10. Pokemon Master Trainer Board Game (donated)
11. Pokemon Yahtzee (donated)
12. A bag of teacher books that I will never read (left in break room at work)
13. A charging station that I haven’t used in years (donated)
14. Two sets of walkie-talkies (donated)
15. Teaching supplies that are outdated.. old maps and things that no one in their right mind wants (thrown out) 16. A small magic trick set (donated)
17. Coach bag (rarely used it!)
18. Coach Bag (never used!)
19. Bag (a gift…)
20. my favorite pair of gold sandals that were falling apart
21. Kindle. Now I have an iPad, and don’t need it. I rarely used it anyway!
22. most of the stuff in my school binder. I abandoned it halfway through and most of it was irrelevant at this point in the year. (last year)
23. practicum binder from grad school. useless.
24. a bunch of Nintendo themed bookmarks and notebooks- put them in my prize box at school.
25. More Family Fun magazines (from my old bedroom)
26. all of my Teaching Exceptional Children magazines that they had sent me over the years. Ripped out the good articles and tossed the rest!
27. all of my Kappa Delta Pi magazines that I’ve never looked at.
28-41. Textbooks that I will never want to look at again.
42-43. Two water bottles that are missing the lids. I miss them.
44. bookcase
45. gallon of paint
46. globe
47. shoe rack
48. garbage can
49. glass candleholder
50. board game
51. poke walker
52-61. tv shows on dvd
62. wii game
63-72. books
73. picture frame
74. metal container
75. box
76. a stack of booklets from school
77-80. 4 pairs of shoes
81-83. couch, loveseat and chair donated to Habitat for Humanity before I moved…
84-92. items of clothing, donated
93-100. stuffed animals, garage sale
101. the didgeridoo that my students made in my methods class. what’s the point of keeping that huge piece of pvc pipe?

I don’t miss anything that I got rid of, but I’ve definitely accumulated other things to replace all of this stuff.. so I don’t know if I accomplished anything, really. Oh well!

classic movies

Finally watched 10 classic movies! This ended up being a huge chore towards the end because I kept not liking the ones that I watched. I did end up liking The Apartment, Roman Holiday, and The Odd Couple a lot.

2. Casablanca

3. The Apartment

4. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

5. Roman Holiday

6. Duck Soup

7. The Paper Chase

8. The Graduate

9. The Odd Couple

30 before 30

So.. in 18 short days, my 1,001 days are up. A few months ago I started working on my new 101/1,001 list and I was really having a difficult time coming up with 101 plausible things that I wanted to accomplish. And I kept searching for people’s bucket lists online, and 101/1,001 lists, and 30 before 30 lists, and 40 before 40 lists, and so on. I discussed with Mallory, and we decided together that a 30 before 30 list was much more accessible this time around.. even though I turn 30 almost 9 months after she does. Here is my current 30 before 30 list… but it is obviously subject to change in the next 18 days. Any ideas? You’ll see some repeats!!

  1. Visit 5 new states
  2. See the Grand Canyon
  3. Revisit New Orleans
  4. Visit NYC during Christmas time
  5. Visit the town where my grandmother grew up
